The Sackies, the First Annual Sackademy Awards

As we all know, LittleBigPlanet is an ethereal dreamscape of wonderment and possibility, and for just over a year now imaginations have been running wild, filling the LittleBigPlanet with incredible and beautiful creations, enthralling adventures, and brilliant things to do. Even away from the Planet’s surface, impressive things are made and shared, and our lives have all been transformed by the efforts of our peers, and PSN Friends.

It is these achievements we will be celebrating over the next few weeks, as we recognise the highest levels of achievement in and around LittleBigPlanet, by awarding the greatest honour possible for us to bestow – the Sackie.

Celebrating the highest level of achievement amongst Players, Creators and Sharers on LittleBigPlanet.

The Sackie is the chief award given by the Sackademy of LittleBigPlanet Arts, as decided by a panel of judges from Media Molecule, Sony Computer Entertainment, and you the community. We will begin by looking at specific achievements in various categories over the coming weeks, and finish off close to Christmas with the unveiling of the Best Level, as voted for by you! We will open voting for that shortly, so stay tuned.

Before we move on to the first award, We just want to say that whittling the nominees for this down into a small list, let alone choosing the winners, was an incredibly hard task to complete. When you have 1.3 million levels, and a community so full of creativity, spirit and dedication, it is fairly impossible to pick one out from the bunch.

We did our best however, and although we have undoubtedly missed out some incredible creations, we have created a list which showcases some absolutely amazing talent.

Because picking a winner from these sets of nominees was so hard, each nominee for each category will automatically be awarded with a Crown for making it that far, and the winner of each award will be immortalised in LittleBigPlanet history as the winner of a Sackie, get a pat on the back, and if they are really lucky, a good-night kiss on the forehead and a cup of warm milk. There may be other rewards too. Intriguing!
